STEP 5: ON THE EXAMINATION DAY

Once you have enrolled and scheduled your cosmetology exam, it is time to prepare for the examination day. Here are some of the documents you should take along with you on the day of the cosmetology exam:

  • You must have proof of your legal full name that matches the name on the admission documents.
  • This document must be original, unexpired, and valid.
  • You must have a photo identification issued by the government.
  • A recognizable photo of yourself that matches the photo on the admission documents.
  • An admission notice and valid government-issued photo identification with photo and signature, a valid passport, or another acceptable official photo identification.

  • You should not take your personal belongings inside the examination room. You will be provided with a designated place to keep your belongings.

STEP 6: TAKE THE EXAM

There are 2 cosmetology exams in the state of Wyoming. Namely:

LICENSE RENEWAL

To renew your cosmetology license, you must fill out the blank renewal application or renew online by filling out the required information.

  • The renewal fee for a personal license is $96 (2 years).
  • The renewal fee for independent contractors is $75 (1 year). 

LICENSE ENDORSEMENT

To transfer your cosmetology license by endorsement, you must meet the following endorsement requirements set by the board:

  • You must have a minimum of practical hours of:
  • Cosmetology – 1600 hours.
  • Hair Stylist – 1000 hours.
  • Nail Technology – 400 hours.
  • Esthetician – 600 hours.
  • Instructor – 500 hours.
  • If you do not meet the minimum hour requirement, you must prove at least 1-year work experience.
  • You must have a valid and unexpired license if you are from another state.
  • You must have passed both the practical and written exams given by a testing company or state board of cosmetology.
